Ride of the day came from apprentice Pietro Moran with Pat's Gamble squeezing through at the rail.

It was just over a week that the young jockey Pietro was celebrating a ride with his dad David Moran within the same race at Woodbine racetrack. I can only imagine what that feeling must have been like for both dad and son because very rarely these occasions come within sports.

I remember speaking with Pietro last summer and it was just after his dad David had suffered an injury and was on the shelf. At that point I thought they were swapping Morans at Woodbine but honestly it was just his time to ride. Pietro shared that he had always wanted to ride horses and become a jockey so it wasn't no surprise of the direction he went on becoming a jockey. His very first race wasn't the greatest result and he ended up last of the bunch, I remember bumping into his parents after the race and they were ok with the result on that day after the ride.

In today's race Pietro broke well with Pat's gamble and settled in somewhere near middle of the pack. The jock was patient after making the turn for home and made his move on the inside and eventually passing Victory Town who ended up third. It was a great ride from the young jockey which brought lots of cheers from the fans watching on.

Quite bizarre was the payouts since Pat's Gamble was ML favourite at 5/2 but settled on 7-1 when all was done. Pat's Gamble has now won races back to back with earnings of $87,709 total.

Congrats to everyone involved.
